How to Make a Logo Transparent:
Four easy steps to make a logo transparent.
Prepare your file.
Decide what you are going to use your image for.
If you intend to use your logo for online and display purposes, it is essential to start with a high-resolution image that will look good on web pages and in print. However, if you are just playing with ideas and want to see what your logo will look like on a transparent background, a low-resolution image will be suitable.
Check your image resolution.
Digital image resolution is expressed as a horizontal by vertical measurement in pixels (px). The higher the image resolution, the sharper and clearer your images will appear online.
A 1500 x 2000 image has a width of 1500 px and a height of 2000 px. Multiplying those numbers and dividing the total by 1,000,000 gives us the resolution in megapixels (MP) — in this case, 3 MP.
The following image sizes are often recommended for websites:
- Full-width images: 2400 x 1600 px.
- Background images: 1920 x 1080 px.
- Blog images: 1200 x 630 px.
- Website banners: 300 x 250 px.
If you intend to print your logo, the recommended quality is 300 pixels per inch (ppi). The larger the print size, the higher the pixel count should be. To calculate the resolution needed, simply multiply the print size in inches by 300. For example, if you are making a 12-inch by 12-inch logo print, the recommended resolution is 3600 x 3600 px.
To check your image quality on Windows, locate the file on your computer and right-click on the image.
Go to "Properties."
Click on the "Details" tab.
On macOS, click on the file in the Finder and you'll find the information on the right side of the window.
Convert your file.
The easiest way to remove a background from your logo is to use remove.bg. However, the software only accepts JPG, PNG, and TIFF files. If your image is in a different format, you will need to convert the file. You can do so quickly using CloudConvert.
Navigate to CloudConvert's home page.
Click on the "Select File" button.
Upload your image.
Select your preferred file format.
Click on "Convert."
Download your file.
Remove the background of your image.
Navigate to remove.bg.
Go to remove.bg's home page. This is the software you'll use to remove the background of your image and make a few adjustments if needed.
Upload your logo.
Click on "Upload Image" or drag and drop your logo anywhere on the page.
Wait for the program to remove your background.
Once your file has been uploaded, remove.bg will remove your background automatically. This should only take a few moments.
Make adjustments to your image if needed.
Fine-tune your logo.
If you find that the program missed a small section of background or removed an area that you wanted to keep, you can apply fixes manually.
Click the "Edit" button on the image.
Select the ERASE / RESTORE tab.
Choose whether you want to restore or erase an area.
Adjust your brush size by sliding the toggle left or right.
Zoom in on the area you'd like to fix.
Use the brush to edit it.
Add a background, if desired.
Once your original background has been removed, you can choose to add a different background. While you may not use this feature, it's sometimes a good idea to see what your logo will look like on different materials. You can even upload your own background.
Click the "Edit" button.
Select the "Background" tab.
Click on "Photo" and "Color" to view the different background options.
You can also upload your own background from the "Photo" tab.
Download your transparent logo.
Test out your logo with a free preview image.
Once your logo is ready, you have the option of downloading a free preview image. Preview images are smaller in size — at most, 0.25 MP — with a lower resolution and are not ideal for professional branding or printing. However, they are useful if you want to test your transparent logo on mockups before you purchase a high-definition (HD) image.
To download a preview image, simply click on the blue "Download" button.
Create an account.
If you are happy with your preview image and would like to download the full HD image, you'll need to create a Kaleido account.
Click on the "Sign up" button in the top-right corner.
Sign in with Facebook or Google or enter an email address.
Read through the terms of service, general terms and conditions, and privacy policy, and indicate whether you agree.
Click on "Sign up."
Download the HD version of your logo.
When you sign up for the first time, you will receive one free credit. Use it to purchase the HD version of your logo.
Click on "Download HD."
Select the blue "Download" option in the pop-up window.
Purchase additional credits, if needed.
Subsequent HD downloads of your logo are free. However, if you wish to edit and download another image, you'll need to purchase credits.
Click on "Pricing" in the main menu.
Click on "Subscribe now" or "Buy now" depending on whether you want to purchase a subscription or one-off credits.
Complete your purchase using PayPal or your credit card.
Once your payment has been approved, your credits will be loaded.
Go back to your image and download it in HD.
