Tester Korea is a K-beauty website founded in 2007. The site offers a variety of skincare, makeup, and bath and body products. However, its key drawcard is the sale of testers, allowing customers to try out different brands before committing to full-size products.
The website features a clean aesthetic with vibrant imagery and colors serving to attract a young demographic. Aside from individual categories, the site has dedicated pages for testers, promotions, special sets, and brands. In addition, links to the account section, shipping information, and customer support can be easily found.
The home page loads quickly but there is some lag on the product pages. Each product features a detailed description with how-to instructions; however, the layout of the text is awkwardly centered which affects the aesthetics of the page.
The sticky menu remains fixed when scrolling and there's a tab on the right featuring a back-to-top button, recent cart additions, and links to the customer inquiry and account pages. However, this tab can only be seen in full when you zoom out a little, which can be annoying for users. The site performed well on the PageSpeed Insights test, receiving 88/100.
The site adapts well to mobile screens and images appear crisper. In contrast to the desktop site, the entire product block is selectable. The menu is also sticky and users can easily access their accounts, shopping cart, and customer support via the top menu or footer links.
In addition, the search bar is larger and more prominent than on desktop. However, the back-to-top tab from the desktop site has disappeared and users have to scroll to the top of the screen manually. While the site scored 28/100 for performance on PageSpeed Insights, it fell well within acceptable ranges in our real-life tests.
